The head of the international department of the BFSS, Anatol Kotau, shared his opinion on the admission of athletes with Belarusian passports to the Olympics:

It's quite difficult to determine the true beliefs of athletes from Belarus because many choose to simply remain silent. There are no public photos or statements, and most athletes have even closed their social media profiles, making it hard to verify what they think or how they've expressed themselves about the war and their connections with the Belarusian state.
Anatol also spoke about the medal prospects for Belarusians:
It's hard to talk about any serious medal prospects when most Belarusian athletes have been barred from participating in international competitions, except for CIS or Russian events.

If athletes from Belarus manage to win one or two medals at the Olympics, it will be a 'great ideological victory' for Lukashenko's regime. The authorities in Belarus likely hope to extract some ideological benefits from this truly shameful situation in which Belarusian sports, and the Olympic team in particular, find themselves.
